Kharma Incense Holders
Each sculpture typically starts with a color overlay, then frit is added with multiple
color wraps, dichromatic pieces, stringers and up to six gathers
or more of clear glass to separate the color layers. The sculpture was pulled and torched to into a three feet long piece.
Every piece, cooled over two days with a custom annealing gradient, deny the colors and dichromatics
chunks from cracking the sculptures. The necks were cut off for later use. Paul's pieces require a team minimum of three and sometimes
four during the fabrication process.
Seven painted layers of color over seven days are added to the inside of Kharma - baked and seared together for added textures. The short neck is sheared off with a diamond circular glass saw and hand polished with a soft burr. The base is inscribed and dated.
Pure white Carmel Beach sand has been added inside for balance and to hold the incense sticks which I collect during my overseas travels.
